Bathroom Tiling

We can offer a tiling service for both walls and floor.

Wall tiles

Many tiles for bathrooms these days are of a considerable size. This can bring about a couple of problems:

Where there is a shower we fit a 12.5mm tile panel. These are generally made of glass fibre, fleece covered gypsum board and designed for use in high moisture applications such as showers, kitchens and bathrooms. This helps to stop moisture from lifting the tile (as would happen if the tile is put onto standard plasterboard).

Wall tiles come in many different finishes and designs so it should be easy enough to find one to suit you. First try to understand the size you would like, then the colour and start your search from there. Tile prices can vary greatly and it really depends on your budget although if set correctly on the wall even cheap tiles can look excellent. However an expensive tile badly put up will look a mess!

Finally choose your grout colour, again there is a big range available so take a look down your local tile centre to see what is on offer.

Wall repair

Where tiles have been removed or plaster is old then usually it is necessary to fix the plaster. This can be done on a local basis or if the damage it too great then plasterboard and a skim is the way to go. We can provide this within our bathroom service for clients that need it. There is no need to find a third party plasterer (unless you wish to of course).

Floor tiles

If you have a solid (concrete) floor then more than likely the tiles can be laid straight down.

Sometimes levelling is required, often if old tiles have been removed. We offer this in as part of the tiling service for clients who need it.

Where there is a wood floor we will need to fit a 6mm Aquapanel first. This is made from Portland cement with a coated fibre mesh embedded in the core. This aids (but cannot stop entirely) in preventing the tile or grout cracking. (Thin tiles should not be put down on a wooden floor)

As with the wall tiles there are all shapes and sizes and prices. Spend some time deciding what you want start with the size and colour and go from there. At the same time choose your grout to match the tile you select.
